Simple Contemplative Presence
Monday, November 12 - Friday, November 16, 2007

When you search for me,
you will find me;
if you seek me with
all your heart.
(Jeremiah 29:13)

Silence, solitude and surrender are sought more often than found in the obscurity and demand of serious life changes. Let us come together in the changing season of autumn to support one another in letting go, seeking the Beloved with all our heart. The Psalms and the poetry of the mystics will assist our prayer for deepening trust in the tides of transition, for focusing our intent for simple contemplative presence.

In this retreat, we will bring together people who feel drawn to a more willing receptivity to the living presence of the One who exists beyond all images, concepts, and methods. There will be a simple, gentle rhythm of daily gathered prayers and corporate silence, small group sharing, guided meditations and wide-open spaces. Guidance in forms of prayer and meditation will be minimal. The overall atmosphere will be silent, including meals.

Applicants should have prior experience in contemplative prayer and meditation. They also should have a spiritual director or spiritual guidance community to help discern the rightness of their participation and to support the ongoing integration of their experience.
