Advent Quiet Day
Monday, December 10, 2007, 10am-4pm
The wilderness and the dry land
Shall be glad, the desert shall rejoice
And blossom... (Isaiah 35:1)
Advent is a season of slowing down, opening the imagination, and opening the heart to receive the gift of new life in parched places. The Beloved continually offers overflowing waters of hope in the wilderness. What is the gift of new life you seek? What gift might God be longing to give you?
You are warmly invited to come away for a little while-to imagine a desert sheltering a mother and rejoicing, to dream with God of a world blossoming with justice and peace, when "Earth will be full of the knowledge of God as the waters cover the sea." (Isaiah 11:9)
This day offers the sanctuary of spiritual community and silence for relaxation and prayer, meditation on scripture, and optional sharing time.
Advent is the waiting season,
Hoping to be rediscovered.
She is seasoned waiting,
Wishing wisdom
And pregnant with promised life. (Joseph J. Juknialis)
