Introductory Events

If you are new to Shalem's programs, we want to extend a special welcome and invite you to attend the introductory offerings below. All are structured to give a taste of contemplative living as well as a sampling of specific Shalem programs.

Open House: Sunday, September 30, 2007, 1:30-5pm; Free introduction to Shalem programs and contemplative prayer.
On Being a Spiritual Guide: Fridays, October 5, 2007 and April 4, 2008. 9:30am-4pm; An experiential workshop for those who assist others with their spiritual lives and who wish to explore further the ministries of spiritual direction including group spiritual direction.
On Being a Retreat Leader: Friday, October 26, 2007 and Saturday, April 5, 2008. 10am-4pm; An experiential workshop to address practical items for planning a retreat: theme, content, schedule, space, forming community, and entering silence.
On Living Each Day Prayerfully: Saturday, December 1, 2007. 10am-4pm; An experiential workshop for those who wish to grow and deepen their ability to live each day more intentionally open to God.
A Nurturing Day for Clergy: Friday, February 29, 2008, 10am-4pm; An opportunity for clergy to deepen their appreciation of the many ways God's Spirit is seeking to be alive in their leadership and ministry.
