Personal Spiritual Deepening Program Offerings
After 15 years of offering this program as a year-long program based in Washington, DC, Shalem is offering PSDP in a format customized to your local setting. Our trained associate-faculty are providing this program in their communities. Details about each offering are listed below. ALABAMA - This program is currently in session.
Dates:
Tuesday Nights - 7:00pm-8:30pm, October 11, 2011 - March 6, 2012. There will be a break in December.
Place: St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 4051 Old Shell Road, Mobile, AL 36608
Leaders: Fr. Marshall Craver and Dr. Bob Donnell
Fr. Craver and Dr. Donnell are both graduates of Shalem's Leading Contemplative Prayer Groups & Retreats Program.
Cost: $100

Leaders: Nancy Nikiforow and Nan Weir
Nancy Nikiforow is a spiritual director, retreat leader, and workshop
facilitator on contemplative prayer and contemplative living. She is a
graduate of Shalem's Spiritual Guidance Program.
Nan Weir facilitates small groups and retreats and is an architect with
special interest in community building and sacred space. She is a
graduate of Shalem's Leading Contemplative Prayer Groups & Retreats
and Facilitating Group Spiritual Direction programs.
Cost: $775; optional silent retreat is $90 additional
Deposit: $100 with application

Place: St. Gabriel's Retreat House, Catonsville, MD
Leaders: Nicholas Amato and Stephanie Burgevin
Nicholas Amato has served more than 20 years as a pastor in the Archdiocese of Baltimore and is a graduate of the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Washington, DC. His full-time ministry includes offering contemplative retreats, parish missions, and days of recollection. He has two Master’s degrees, one in Counseling and another in Theology, and a Doctorate in Educational Administration. He is an associate faculty member of the Shalem Institute.
Stephanie Burgevin has been a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) for more than 15 years. She is an associate faculty member of the Shalem Institute of Spiritual Formation and a graduate of their Leading Contemplative Prayer Groups and Retreats program. She is a certified parent educator, has been clerk of Ministry and Counsel at Alexandria Monthly Meeting, and has led numerous groups, both spiritual and secular in nature.
Cost:
Early bird registration rate - $550 if paid in full by January 8, 2012.
Regular registration rate - $600

Place: The Bellfry Retreat Home, Lexington, VA
Leaders: Anne Grizzle and Dawn Peck
Anne Grizzle is a spiritual director, family therapist, retreat leader, and author of three books; she is interested in creating community in Christ.
Dawn Peck is a spiritual director, developmental pediatrician, and retreat leader; she is interested in theology and interfaith dialogue.
Cost: $750; ($350 for room & board; $400 tuition).

Leaders: Margot Eyring and Elizabeth Tuckermanty
Margot Eyring, BFA, Ph.D., Associate Faculty at the Shalem Institute, hosted her first retreat on her family farm over 30 years ago. Since then, she has delighted in creating spaces for lives to deepen and be transformed. For Margot, hospitality is a vehicle for promoting justice and shalom. As a coach, she helps her clients get to where they need to be by focusing on their lives and paying attention to what is important. Like a magnifying glass in the sun, this focused attention can start a fire for something new.
Elizabeth Tuckermanty, Ph.D. Associate Faculty at the Shalem Institute. Liz has been connected to contemplative work for over 30 years. She has led retreats focusing on food, labyrinth walking, centering and meditation. Liz is a nutritionist, gardener and an avid foodie. She is eager to help seekers find that wisdom within themselves through contemplative practices.
Cost: Deposit ($100) or full tuition ($675) by December 31, 2011
