Julian and Rumi Quiet Day
Saturday, November 12, 2011, 10am-4pm
"No creature that is made can know how much and how sweetly and how tenderly our creator loves us."
— Julian of Norwich
"Your task is not to seek love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within your self that you have built against it."
— Rumi
Opening to God's Love: A Day with Julian of Norwich & Jalaluddin Rumi
From very different worlds and times, Julian of Norwich and Jalaluddin Rumi echo each other in their deep, abiding love of God and their awareness of the depth and breadth of God's love for all of creation. Both also offer wisdom and guidance as we open more fully to the presence of this love in our lives. Their hymns to the Holy One can awaken our hearts and help us trust more profoundly in times of suffering, uncertainty and doubt.
This quiet day will include reflections on Julian and Rumi, chanting, embodied prayer, and times of silence. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a bag lunch. All are welcome!
