Shalem is moving to a new home! In late June, Shalem will take up residence in the newly renovated office space of the Hecker Center for Ministry, 3025 Fourth Street, NE, Washington, DC.
The Hecker Center is part of St. Paul's College, where one of Shalem's first long-term groups, the Friday morning group, met in the 70's and where Shalem board meetings and committee meetings were held for several years.
Set on a beautifully landscaped campus, the Hecker Center is close to Catholic University and Metro's Brookland stop. The Center has plenty of free parking, is fully handicapped accessible, and offers the possibility of extra meeting and conference spaces. The Newman Bookstore and Christian Brothers Conference, among others, will be our immediate neighbors, sharing space in the Center. But we are also looking forward to other partnerships that we hope will emerge in this new location, in addition to the possibility of a potential new pool of interns and volunteers who we hope will want to serve with Shalem.
Although being good stewards of Shalem's resources led us to seek a space that will cost substantially less to rent, we are also very excited about the new possibilities and opportunities that this move provides and the beautiful new space that is being built out to meet our needs.
As is often the case with a move, we find ourselves in need of a few items. If you would like to help with a "house warming" gift for Shalem, you can view our wish list here.
If you find yourself in the neighborhood during July or August, please come and visit our new space! Watch the web site for more details about an open house in the fall.
