Reading List Cynthia Bourgeault Gerald May Seminar 2012

Suggested Reading List Referenced in Contemplatives & Mystics, Prophets & Visionaries

In our world today, the path of Wisdom knowing that is cultivated in contemplative prayer and practice is leading the way in the recovery of Christianity's visionary and prophetic voice. In her time with us during an inspring Gerald May Seminar in April 2012, Cynthia artfully examined how (and why) this is happening by looking at four contemporary contemplative voices:

Thomas Merton, a Trappist monk of the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani, who was a poet/author and social activist;
Bruno Barnhart, a Camaldolese monk of New Camaldoli Hermitage and the author of numerous books;
Raimon Panikkar, a Roman Catholic theologian whose embrace of Hindu scriptures and Buddhism made him an influential voice in inter-religious dialogue;
Constance FitzGerald, a Carmelite theologian who is known for her interpretation of the writings of John of the Cross.

We invite you to engage with Cynthia and these inspiring individuals further through a Reading List offered by Cynthia Bourgeault based on her Gerald May lecture 2012.  Follow the links below to purchase the titles, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Shalem Institute.
