Ann Dean

Ann Dean is Director of Shalem's Leading Contemplative Prayer Groups & Retreats Program, Director of the Personal Spiritual Deepening Program Leadership Initiative and serves on the faculty of the Spiritual Guidance Program and Clergy Spiritual Life & Leadership: Going Deeper Program.  She is actively engaged in the Shalem Society for Contemplative Leadership as spiritual companion and intercessor for the Shalem Circles.

Ann is a spiritual director and nationally-known leader of retreats and conferences for deepening the life of prayer and developing new structures committed to contemplative prayer, Earth care and social justice.  She worked for many years in inner-city  ministries in Washington, DC: the Potter's House; the Servant Leadership School;  addictions recovery groups; and multi-faith prayer groups, retreats and worship  services. In 1994, she founded the ecumenical Church of the Servant Jesus, in  the community of the Church of the Saviour, which she served as Pastor for ten  years. She is a member of the Dayspring Retreat Mission Group.
