The Shalem Society is open to all graduates who have attended the second residency of any of the Shalem extension programs. It is open to only extension graduates because they share an overlapping background of readings, contemplative understanding and practice through the programs. This allows members to move to greater depth and mutual reinforcement, which would be difficult without the shared experience and insights.
The Society welcomes all graduates who wish continued support to live a contemplatively grounded life, who wish to offer the fruits of their spiritual deepening to God’s work in the world, and who commit to shared spiritual practices. The Shared Commitment and Practices section outlines the components of the membership commitment.
For those who wish to join outside of an annual gathering, the Membership Commitment form may be printed, signed, and returned to Shalem. You will then be welcomed and supported in participating in the life of the Society.
