Residential Cost: $700
Commuter Cost: $480
- Residential cost is $700; this includes tuition ($350) and room & board ($350).
- Commuter cost is $480; this includes tuition ($350), and meals ($130). Commuters are welcome to stay at local hotels in Emmitsburg, MD.
Attendees
As one of the components of the Society for Contemplative Leadership, the annual gathering is open to all people who have completed the second residency of Shalem's Extension programs: Clergy Spiritual Life & Leadership Program, Facilitating Group Spiritual Direction Program, Leading Contemplative Prayer Groups & Retreats Program, Personal Spiritual Deepening Program, Spiritual Guidance Program, and Soul of the Executive Program.
Please note: if you are a graduate of one of Shalem's extension programs and are considering membership in the Society, you are welcome to come to the annual gathering to discern if the Society is right for you at this time.
Schedule
The Gathering begins on Monday at 2:00 PM and ends with lunch on Friday. We will send you a more detailed schedule in September. It is important to our overall design and to the community that you are present for the whole time. Please arrange your schedule so that is possible.
Our time will include:- inspirational presentations by Shalem leaders
- opportunities to learn from one another through mutual sharing of both experiences and needs related to contemplative leadership
- time with graduates of your own program area
- plenary sessions with the larger community
- opportunity to reconstitute your peer group or form a new one or a regional group for ongoing support
- two days of silent retreat
- ritual initiation into the Shalem Society and a dedication of ourselves to its components for the year ahead
Travel
The nearest airport to the Seton Retreat Center is
Baltimore-Washington International (BWI). There is a shuttle service
(The Airport Shuttle) from the airport directly to the Center. You must
call the service at 800-776-0323 at least two weeks in advance to make
a reservation and provide them with your airline, flight number,
arrival time and credit card number. Please identify yourself as part
of the Shalem group, and request that they try to combine rides with other reservations to help keep the cost
down. Another option is to coordinate a shuttle group yourself. The
one-way cost is $110 for one person, and $7 for each additional person.
We suggest you try to arrive by 11am into BWI, and we are happy to send
you a roster of attendees so you can connect with others to make
shuttle transfer plans.
