Patience Robbins
Patience is a Roman Catholic laywoman who joined
Shalem's adjunct staff in 1997. She
serves on the staff of Shalem's Leading Contemplative Prayer Groups
& Retreats and Clergy Spiritual Life and Leadership
Programs. She has served as a facilitator and on the Shalem
teaching staff for group spiritual direction since 1997.
Patience has an M.A. in Religious Studies from LaSalle University,
completed Shalem's Spiritual Guidance Program in 1988, and has been a
spiritual director for 20 years. She has worked extensively in
parish ministry, campus ministry, retreat ministry and religious
education. She also loves to empower people, especially women,
and assist them in recognizing their particular contribution to our
world.
Patience has been active in peace and social justice activities since a
teenager and is deeply committed to world peace. Some of her mentors
are Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Dorothy Day and St. Therese of
Lisieux. She loves to read biographies of courageous and generous
people; enjoys walking and yoga; and particularly enjoys interacting
with people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and religious
traditions.
